Safer Recruitment
Introduction
The safe recruitment of teaching staff is the first step to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in schools. Wise Education Resource is committed to safeguarding and promoting safer recruitment practices. The company expects all team members to share this commitment.

Safer Recruitment Policy
At Wise Education Resource, we are deeply committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of students by recruiting teachers who are not only highly qualified but also suitable and safe to work with children. Our Safer Recruitment Policy helps to identify, deter, or reject individuals who may pose a risk to students. We ensure all recruitment procedures align with this goal.

Recruitment and Selection Procedures
Advertising
We make sure all job advertisements for teaching positions clearly express our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Our schools can trust that we prioritize the safety of students in every recruitment process.

Teacher Registration
For international teaching candidates, we require a complete online profile, which includes:
-
CV
-
References
-
Qualification certificates
-
Up-to-date UK and overseas police checks
This comprehensive profile helps ensure that all candidates are thoroughly vetted.
Risk and Disciplinary Disclosure
As part of our online sign-up process, we ask candidates to confirm:
-
That they have never been flagged as a risk or potential risk to children by any Children’s Services department or the Police.
-
That they have never been the subject of any disciplinary investigation or sanction by any organization due to concerns about their behavior towards children.
These confirmations are clearly displayed on the admin view of our international teachers’ profiles so that our Advisers can easily identify if any candidate has not met these requirements.
We encourage candidates to disclose any previous criminal convictions early in the application process. If disclosed, we follow our specific policy on how to handle these convictions.
References
We require candidates to provide three references. One of these must be from a Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, or senior management team member. Each reference includes the question: "Do you know of any reason the applicant should not work with children?" Only candidates whose referees answer ‘no’ will be considered for submission to schools.
To ensure references are legitimate, we require that they come from school email addresses. If a reference is sent from a non-school email, the candidate must have an equivalent police check.
If any referee expresses reservations about hiring a candidate, we will reach out to discuss their concerns. In some cases, we offer an additional reference check after a candidate has received an offer (this service incurs an extra fee as it is time-consuming).
Online Interviews
Our experienced Advisers interview all candidates via Zoom or Google Meet before presenting them to schools. All our Advisers are qualified teachers and have completed Child Protection and Safer Recruitment training.
During the interview, our Advisers thoroughly review the candidate’s CV and previous employment history, addressing any gaps or inconsistencies. They ask specific questions to uncover any potential safeguarding concerns.
If issues such as disciplinary actions, allegations, or convictions arise, these are fully discussed and reviewed before proceeding with a candidate’s application. Any concerns are shared with the Wise Education Resource management team before taking further steps.
We also conduct online research to verify the details of any candidate if needed.

Internal Communication and Safeguarding
We have a dedicated internal Safeguarding channel where our team stays updated on any current safeguarding issues and can share information with each other. This ensures our recruitment process remains transparent and secure.
Collaboration with Schools
While we take great care in recruiting candidates, we always recommend that schools carry out their own safeguarding and reference checks. This partnership ensures that both parties are aligned in our commitment to the safety of students.
By working together, we can ensure that every teacher we place is fully vetted and committed to providing a safe learning environment for students.
